1. You must be at least 16 years old at the time the Academy begins. 2. You must have completed an encampment such as Cascade Falcon or a winter encampment. Although no grade requirement is listed, it certainly plays a part in the selection of students. 3. Download and complete the following forms. Attention to detail matters. NOTE: make sure you have the necessary signatures (applicant, Parent or guardian, Squadron commander and, if required, doctor). Incomplete forms will delay processing your application! 4. You and your parent/guardian read and sign the Code of Conduct form. 5. You and your parent/guardian read the Packing List form. 6. Complete an essay of not more than one page describing why you want to attend the Flight Academy and outlining your goals in aviation. This is a very important part of the selection process. Composition, grammar, and sincerity are all considered. 7. For those requesting a scholarship, include your request in your essay with the amount needed and how much your squadron is willing to contribute. Please talk to your squadron commander before you do this so you will know what help is available. 8. Scan and upload the documents and forms in PDF format to the registration site by the deadline of 1 May. To complete registration, you will also have to pay a $300 refundable deposit by credit card. 9. When your online registration has been received, you and your Squadron Commander will receive a letter asking that you both review your application/fees with your parents. Everyone will sign the letter and email it to majormiket@me.com by 3 May. Your application processing will not proceed until this letter has been received. 10. Start the process to obtain your FAA Student Pilots Certificate and Class 3 medical. This document will guide you through the process. 11. We will review all applicants’ training records and notify any applicant by email if they are missing any of the required training. All the required training (see # must be completed prior to 3 May. If all the training is not complete the applicant will be placed on the standby list until the training is completed. Be proactive. Complete all required training before we have to tell you that you are missing items. 12. You will be required to bring an original document showing proof of US citizenship or TSA approval to the Flight Academy. For details see the TSA website. The ONLY acceptable forms of proof are:

14. To prepare for possible solo flight, you must be cleared for a solo in the CAP WMIRS system. We will help you complete this after you arrive at the Academy. 15. Acceptance notification will be sent by email between 8 and 15 May. You will then be required to go back into the registration program and submit the remainder of the fee by the deadline of 12 June. Those students who apply for and receive a scholarship will be provided a coupon code that will reduce the overall fee. 16. If you are not accepted, any funds received will be refunded. |
